Big S'cool Walk: A Journey of Friendship, Fitness, and Generosity

September 29, 20243 min read

I’m so proud of my awesome team of Air Secretaries in the Philippines who have walked 50 km to raise money for The Big S’cool Walk.

AIR SECRETARY sponsored twelve of our medical secretaries to participate in this event. They committed to the challenge. They put in hours on the training track to build their fitness and endurance. They raised money to help underprivileged schools in the Philippines.

We are grateful to the specialist medical practices who they work with who supported them on this challenge and allowed them to take a day off work to walk for a great cause.

It’s an amazing effort. I have never walked that far in one day. You have all contributed to giving some grateful kids a better opportunity to learn at school.

In 2022, a group of Australian entrepreneurs dared to tread beyond the beaten path. We embarked on an extraordinary adventure—a 50-kilometre journey around the enchanting island of Siquijor, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Philippines, cradled by the swirling currents of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

This wasn't just a walk; it was a mission. A mission to channel the spirit of friendship, fitness, and adventure into a lifeline of support for children in remote schools. We sought to provide essential resources to the vibrant communities that have played a pivotal role in our business success.

"Excited to share that we just completed a 50km charity walk in the beautiful island of Siquijor! The journey was challenging but the smiles of the kids in every school we passed by filled our hearts with motivation." These heartfelt words from Jolanie, who led our team on this incredible journey, encapsulate the essence of our experience. Her post reflects not only the physical challenge we undertook but also the emotional rewards that awaited us at every turn.

The children we met, with their bright eyes and infectious smiles, reminded us why we were walking—"each step was for a brighter future for them." Their joy and enthusiasm were a powerful testament to the resilience and hope that these young souls embody, despite the challenges they face.

Our team participated in this fundraising challenge not just for the adventure, but to make a lasting difference. We believe in a mission that goes beyond just travel. With us, you’ll contribute to a legacy of empowerment, helping children in remote schools gain access to essential resources, and fostering resilient, thriving communities. We were driven by a shared desire to uplift these communities, providing not just material support but also hope for a better future.

As we laced up our shoes and set out under the tropical sun, we were filled with determination and hope, ready to make a difference. But what we didn't anticipate was the profound exchange that awaited us. Siquijor, with its boundless heart and unyielding spirit, gave us far more than we could ever give in return.

"To Brendan and Aaron who organised this annual event, you are both amazing. To the rest of your team, we are thankful for providing us snacks, water and support and for always checking on us and asking if we were okay," Jolanie continues, expressing gratitude to those who supported us along the way. It was this camaraderie and the spirit of togetherness that turned a challenging walk into an unforgettable experience.

We returned with our hearts brimming, forever transformed by the spirit of Siquijor. The Big S'cool Walk was more than a physical challenge; it was a journey that redefined the essence of giving. We set out to make a difference, and in doing so, we discovered that the greatest impact was on ourselves.

"To all clients and their respective Air Secretaries, it was a memorable journey walking alongside with you," Jolanie's words remind us that this walk was not just about the destination, but about the connections we made and the community we built along the way.

Together, let's continue the journey, not just as entrepreneurs, but as changemakers, friends, and adventurers at heart.
